I did the same thing.
I then did a wipe (back up your address book and stuff first)
Then I had to go into applications and delete the email addresses - they got mixed up a bit.
When you are adding your email addresses ensure the "synchronization" selection is unchecked.

I'm by no means an expert.... so the fix might be a bit convoluted.....
I did the following: (keeping in mind I had the address book already backed up)
Security Wipe - emails/contacts
I then "restored" from the desktop software.
When setting up new emails for the blackberry it defaults to automatically sync up the contacts from your email addresses - so simply ensure you un-check that box. Just take your time and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I had some issues with my wife's emails on my new torch (already was starting to set up my curve for her) and the emails were not sync'd so I had to go into the following:
... and delete the email addresses that I didn't want.
