email settings

I have been trying to look for the answer to my question but i have found no solution so I had no alternative but to post it as a new question. My email had been working fine for a while until there was an error with the actual email server since this is a school email. It has now been fixed but ever since I cannot get my email to work on my device. I try changing the settings for it in "setup"  but when I click to change the settings the phone acts like it is opening them up but it just takes me back to setup. So I cannot even access the settings to manage the account I had or add a new one. When I try to send messages it says the email is invalid so I don't know what to do at all because everything else seems to be working fine except for that.
