phone decided it doesnt want recognize my sim

[ Edited ]

was wondering if anyone could help?!

i have the torch 9860 and my battery died on my phone this afternoon, and when i plugged it in to charge it i turned on but had the app world screen on. on the top it said that id insterted a new sim (which i hadn't) and needed to log in to continue. my app world hasnt worked in a while so i couldn't this. ive tried backing up my phone but it freezes at a certain point everytime i do it!! ive tried taking my sim card out and my memory card and leaving it but that hasnt done anything. when i press yn bb button when its locked it says on top- insert sim card- even though theres one in there.

sorry if its confusing. getting a little annoyed now :smileysad:

Re: phone decided it doesnt want recognize my sim

Hi maarie,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.

To resolve these issues, please try to do a custom backup of essential databases only and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software as shown in the following KB articles.

"How to back up BlackBerry smartphone data using BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows" http://bbry.lv/IWfPl0

"Back up and restore BlackBerry smartphone data on a Mac computer using BlackBerry Desktop Software" http://bbry.lv/L9UqAk

"How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows" http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
"Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1U

If this process does not resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting your wireless provider to troubleshoot any possible issues with the SIM card.

Hope this helps.
