question about data plan?

My son and I both have a blackberry torch. We have the $15 data plans and I noticed today on my wireless bill that blackberry.net is sending data at hours that I know I am not on the phone. One was at 5:30 a.m, another 1:00 in the morning.

 Is blackberry updating my phone? I am new to blackberry, and I do not want to go over my data plan with out my knowledge. Does anyone know what these charges could be from? Thank you for your help.

It's not updating, but any applications could be sending/receiving data, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

BlackBerry Messenger could be syncing something.
