"Connecting to Desktop" message.

Hi,

 

I have a UK Blackberry 9800 running OS version 6.0, Bundle 2647.

 

v6.0.0.600,Platform 6.6.0.223.

 

The phone is 15 months old and my provider is EE (formerly Orange)

 

Recently the phone has started displaying the message "Connecting to Desktop" on a plain white screen.  This happens randomly, and without a USB cable connected to a PC or laptop.  When this happens the only way I have found or recovering is to remove the back and pull the battery.

 

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

If the above doesn't yield any positive result then you should consider updating your device OS.

Thanks for the prompt response. I've just restarted in "Safe Mode" but not sure that this will be a viable solution. The status bar now shows "Safe Mode" rather than my provider ID and I rely on this to identify which, if any, WiFi networks I am connected to.

Upgrading the OS is probably a non starter as the "Software Updates" option reports that "Your Blackberry is up to date".


If anyone else has any other suggestions they would be most welcome :-)
