torch 9810 not charging

i haven't been able to charge my mobile at all for about a week now. i let it run down fully, foolishly. when i've had it plugged in the red light flashes and i've had the charging symbol on for a few seconds a couple of times. i've taken it to many places. one said it was my charging port that was loose. another said it's the battery and another one said it may be software related. the big problem is i bought it in an orange shop in the dominican republic and as orange has been taken over by ee they don't seem to be able to check on my warranty. i don't mind paying a bit to have it fixed. but i'm just not sure who to take it to. i'm also in a very rural place so access to shops is limited.

Re: torch 9810 not charging

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):

  1. With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
  2. Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Wait 15 minutes
  5. Insert the battery
  6. Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does

This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.

It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:

  1. Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
  2. Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens

The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.

And, no one here, in this user-to-user community, can do that either. Warranty is a matter between buyer and seller, with each needing to retain their records for later reference. It seems that neither has in this case, which indeed is a shame.

Unless some other volunteer here on this community happens to have experience in your exact area, it is unlikely that anyone can guide you on this issue.

Good luck and let us know!
