Yep, that's how it appears. For most JVM-related errors, battery pulls and reloading of the OS (which was to be my next suggestion) clear them up, but according to RIM it appears that this is indeed fatal.
As suggested in RIM's knowledge base articles, you can claim a warranty replacement if your phone is one year old or less.
I hope your phone meets the eligibility for warranty work.

Just a tip guys, if you're fixinga phone that is as expensive as a Torch 9810, you may wanna trust reloading the phone using a Desktop Manager instead of a Swiss Army Knife. Goodluck
