torch 9810

Yesterday, I had to re-boot my device, as I have done many times before.  This time the device stopped with the message, JVM ERROR 517.

what happened?

Re: torch 9810

It's not a big deal.  Something to do with the Java on your phone went wonky.  One more battery pull should correct the problem.

I hope that helps you.  :smileyhappy:

Re: torch 9810

thank you,I did try several battery pulls,  however RIM says this is a fatal error and phone must be replaced! A corrupt  hardware problem.

Yep, that's how it appears.  For most JVM-related errors, battery pulls and reloading of the OS (which was to be my next suggestion) clear them up, but according to RIM it appears that this is indeed fatal.

As suggested in RIM's knowledge base articles, you can claim a warranty replacement if your phone is one year old or less.

I hope your phone meets the eligibility for warranty work.  :smileyhappy:

Re: torch 9810

Just a tip guys, if you're fixinga phone that is as expensive as a Torch 9810, you may wanna trust reloading the phone using a Desktop Manager instead of a Swiss Army Knife. :smileyhappy: Goodluck
