unable to make voice calls

Hi there,

Since yesterday my torch (vodafone uk running on 6.4.0.105) has lost the ability to make voice calls. It keeps saying no service currently available.

I have coverage GPRS and 3G.

The strange thing is that its allowing me still to receive data as normal.

I have tried the battery pull (hard and soft reset) with no change in this situation.

I'm now stuck as to what else to do.

Service status check says its not available.

I can't even call vodaphone to speak to them. Im currently on a train so thought I would throw it out there for advice while I am travelling.

Rob,

 

Pull your battery again, but this time take out the SIM card, make sure all the contacts are clean (maybe use one of those compressed air cannisters to blow out the area), then reseat the SIM card securely in place.  Replace the battery and see if that doesn't solve your problem.

Nope that's not worked either.

Still saying status not available.

Vodafone have said that my account is working correctly as well so nothing their end.

I'm really at a loss as to what to do.

Think it might be a visit to a vodafone shop today or tomorrow.

Hi, I have a similar problem with O2.  I can receive emails OK, but I cannot make or recieve voice calls.

The O2 SIM card works OK in another phone and when I put a "3" SIM card into the Blackberry, I CAN make calls!!!

Incidentally, I've tried another O2 PAYG SIM with no success.

I have also reloaded the complete OS.  Still no joy.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My problem was that voda had blacklisted the handset by accident - twits

Call o2 and check its not been done

Rob,

That's exactly what has happened.  O2 were of no help, but I managed to get a report via the CheckMend service. 

The phone was bought on eBay from a legit supplier so I will contact them as well.
