When setting alerts for email, they don't always work. One in particular would test once but then would not test (using "TRY") again. It NEVER went off when email was received, regardless of holster status. I tried enabling it while in the holster but that didn't work either.
I finally changed to a different alert and that works SOME of the time.
Non-determinism is not a property to be desired when using a Blackberry.
