Email using Data

Is the BB always connected to the internet?   Is it always using data?     my previouse phone, i had to push an email button to connect so then i could log off and i knew i wasnt using data.      Does it only use data once you push the email, browser, etc buttons?

Thanks alot

Re: Email using Data

Techinically, yes it is. The BlackBerry does 'ping' the cell towers and network every so often to make sure it still there. However it is not constantly connected. Some third party apps are set to check every so often for updates, like the Facebook or Twitter app. Email is different, it is sent instantly when you press Send, and email is pushed to your device on a regular basis, instantly or on a routine schedule according to the type of email server you have.

Re: Email using Data

thanks for the quick response!

ok, so it is always using data.    I just got the phone so it will be interesting to see how much data it uses when idle.
