I can't hang up on an existing phone call to answer an incoming call

I only have two options when I have a call in progress and another call comes in. I can either ignore the incoming phone call or answer the incoming call while placing the first one on hold. This is a huge problem especially if there is not a live person on the other end of the existing phone call (like being put on hold, voicemail, computer of some nature). I have a BB tour and a two week old curve, both from Sprint. I am trying to figure out two things. 1) Is there a way to hang up on an existing phone call to answer a new one? 2) Is this a Blackberry malfunction or a Sprint malfunction. I have not found away to talk directly to Blackberry without paying for it So my only source of information is Sprint. And when you call Sprint usually the person on the other end of the phone tries to answer your question by reading the same manual I have. A lot of good that does!

Any help would be great.
