BlackBerry® Tour™

Hi All,

I am looking for some help, I have a Blackberry Tour and there is an Icon on the Top Right corner two lines under the service bar. It looks like a bullseye, like the blackberry maps but without the red arrow in the middle. Also, i do not know if this is making my battery drain fast but it does not even last 6 hours in full charge and is making my phone go very slow and think a lot.

It sounds like the GPS icon...but, to be sure, Is it one of these?

Really? I thought for sure it would be the "GPS is turned on" icon in that list...perhaps not with the ))) on the right side of the icon, but still...the "bulls eye" description you gave sounded like that to me.

OK then I'm stumped. Please grab an image of your screen, redact any personal information, and post that here so that we can see what you are talking about.

How do i turn the GPS off?

Ummm...so are you confirming that is indeed the icon? Does it have the ))) or not?

I don't know on your specific BB model nor your OS level (which you didn't say), but on mine, it's here:

• Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > GPS

and it contains three settings...configure those as per your desires.

I just tried turning the GPS off and the Icon is still there. Do You have any other suggestions on what it could be

Hmmm...from that and from what I know of 3 separate settings, I've no idea what you may have done. For instance, on mine, there is no "off" setting for the GPS per se...

And, even when I do set mine to what I consider the closest to "off" (as follows):

• GPS Data Source: Device GPS
• GPS Services: E911 Only
• Location Aiding: Disabled

I still have the bulls eye, but no longer the )))

So, with that, I can't tell what you've actually done...I would say that there is no way to get rid of the actual bulls eye...it's there to tell you that you have a GPS on your BB, available for your use.

I really appreciate your help. 

I have the same settings as you do. I do not have the ))), but I still have the bulls eye. I am just wondering if it is the reason why the battery is draining so quickly, a full charge lasts me 3 hours.

Unless some app is constantly accessing the GPS, then I would not suspect that to be the culprit of your issue. I suggest you check what running apps you have -- hold the menu button (the one with the BB logo) and see what is running. Anything beyond Phone, Messages, BBM (if you have it installed), Homescreen, and Browser is potentially using resources as it is running in the background (you cannot shut down those that I listed).
