PHONE WONT START (NEW BB TOUR )

[ Edited ]

HI THERE.

I checked every thing on google but nothing helps. I purchased a bb tour 9630 online US CELLULAR and Im from India, I have been charging it for 3 hours  and i took  out the battery and kept it for 20 minute, reinsserting it and recharging it for 4 hours still no sign of opening., LED is on but cant open the cell. so my question is how long do I need to charge the battery initially? and why is it not opening? this is my second bb phone. and I find it so weird. It never happened with the bb curve 8520 tat I used. what could be the reason? is it an old product with old battery? if I cant start the phonE.#\

# my bb curve 8520 also shows a blank white screen with App error 200??? thats the reason I purchased a new bb, since Im more comfotable with the bb Phone. but the error on the phone bb tour is really frustrating since i recieved the package lastnight.

could you please help me and send an email with the trouble shooting solution to my registered email [removed] ASAP......thank you

Hello,

First off...never post your email address in a public forum such as this...you never know what trolling is going on where you will now be bombarded with SPAM that you don't want. This site is not official BB support...it is user-to-user, and everything you say is 100% publicly visible to anyone else on the Internet. Your email address has hopefully already been redacted from your post by our good mods.

If I were you, .I'd be trying to reach the seller and seek redress from them. The time you've charged should at least be able to run the device for longer than 20 minutes. It is possible that either the battery or the device is faulty...we can't tell you though, at an internet distance, which if either it is. All we can do is give you tests to run to see if you can figure out the root cause.

If you want to try that (rather than seeking redress from the seller), then please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):

  1. With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
  2. Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Wait 15 minutes
  5. Insert the battery
  6. Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does

This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.

It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:

  1. Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
  2. Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens

The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.

There are a lot of remedies here for the 200 error, starting here:

  • Article ID: KB30100 "JVM 200" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

There are more formal articles I am sure as well as plenty of threads on the forums...you can search much more effectively than I can, though.

Good luck and let us know!

Oh? You tried everything I said before you posted? It's a pity you didn't reveal that in your post...I do so dislike wasting your time with unknowingly redundant advice.

And, since you tried all I stated, then what did the seller say?

Lol, you should have read it between the line, when I wrote I checked everything on Google. Anyway, the seller doesn't respond so I gave it to the Servicing centre they also advice me a new cell battery and if it doesn't work than I can dumb it into the dust bin

Re: PHONE WONT START (NEW BB TOUR )

Joke apart, they said something about the cell itself being bad, they are checking it and I purchase a new cell battery. My CUrve 8520 has been restored after fixing the error 200 App and a new Cell battery however it still switches off whebever I make a call or type a msg. So, what could possibly be wrong

I try to assume nothing here...rather, I try to take each poster at exactly their words. Whenever I assume, I get into trouble.

Since you have a Service Center involved, I recommend you continue with them. Since they have cured your 200 error problem, I suggest you continue with them. Nothing at an internet-distance can replace in-hand evaluation by a qualified technician.

Good luck!
