You might attempt to remove the apps you installed, my first guess is that one of them is causing an issue.
If your BlackBerry stays powered off with a black screen, follow the instructions below. The only indication of life might be the blinking red LED light in the top corner. Nothing seems to wake it up and Desktop Manager doesn't recognize any device is connected.
1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications installed to your Blackberry. You want to uncheck those two applications. Hit Next and Finish Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

The same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I had upgraded Blackberry Messenger through the app world and my phone tried to reboot. It just stayed in a loop with a blank white screen and the little black clock in the center (the blue status bar at the bottom never showed). We tried battery pulls, hard resets, Verizon tech support tried to fix my phone for 2 hours and finally I had to demand a replacement. (they wanted to mail me a new phone, but I insisted on taking a phone from the store since they have them in stock for retail sales)

Dear BB friends,
I have been facing many issues with voice calls and broken signal on my bb tour 9630. I am in india, mumbai and have spoken to my carrier vodafone which has mentioed that their connections are all good.
My other tour is working fine. Do you what the problem may be and the solution. also does any one know of a blackberry support phone or shop in India.

I also had the exact thing happen with my Tour a couple months ago, also after downloading a BB Messenger updgrade from App World.
Just as JSanders mentioned, I assumed it was another app that was conflicting or causing an issue. I had no luck getting connected to Desktop Manager, even with VZW tech support on the phone. However, I didn't know about Step #2 - launching the loader.exe via the Command Prompt. I hope I doesn't happen again, but I'll be sure to try this.
Anyway, I also wound up getting a replacement phone. I had purchased mine at Best Buy and this is the first piece of electronics that I've ever bothered getting the store's "insurance" on. Because I had their Black Tie protection (about $10 per month) it was a straight and easy swap. I had a recent backup, so I lost very little.
Sorry your going throught this!
