Just wanted to share my experience with the latest Blackberry update. Received e-mail a few days ago from Balckberry that v4.7.1.61 was available and was compatible with my network. With my usual trepidation, I decided to do the update. My phone is better than ever. Unless I am imagining it, the voice reception and transmission-- with or without bluetooth is improved. I was having some problems with uncaught exceptions, but that is no longer occurring. The only minor glitch is that Blackberry World is only listing about one third of my apps.. However, they are still installed. I am slowling re-installing them from within Blackberry World. Overall, highly recommend the update.

I did do a search before starting a new message, but none of the update problems I subsequently read about came up. As I read them, I remembered that the process of doing the update did not go perfectly smoothly. The device initialization did take a long time, but it did happen. The last step is where things got sticky. It just seemed to be going on and on-- for about an hour. So, I tapped a key on the device, and then things started happening. It seems that I needed to respond to some things pertaining to certain apps-- ok this or that, etc.. (e.g., allowances). Once I did that, I think that the device rebooted and a data restore occurred. At first it looked like it didn't restore all the data-- the clock wasn't right, my new scheme wasnt showing. However, then, after what might have been another reboot-- can't quite recall-- all was good. It never did prompt me that I could disconnect, but since it was back to normal, I decided to do it, and it was OK.
So, the update process could use some tweaking, based on my experience-- I hope that this info will help some of you who are having problems with it.
