This is my first blackberry - the tour, and I love it so far ! Today I received a text message and when I clicked on the "Messages Icon" there was no message..... But when I clicked on the "SMS and MMS Icon" the message appeared. I am a little confused - I thought that the "Message Icon" is where all the text messages go when you receive them except email......? I like having my email messages seperate from my text messages so on the home screen I have the email icon and the messages icon. Can someone explain to me what's going on? Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Under different OS versions, it can act differently. While Messages is most often the "catch all" for all messages from all conduits (email, SMS, PIN, etc.), in some cases, you have the ability to split away from Messages certain things...including SMS/MMS so that they don't clutter up Messages. Since you say that you like having them separate, I'm not sure what your request is other than knowing that this is how it can work. There is a setting that controls keeping SMS/MMS separated out of Messages.

Hi, thanks for responding. So, maybe I just didn't understand the meaning of a "SMS & MMS". A regular text message would be a "SMS Text" right? and whenever I receive a text message it will appear when I click on the "SMS and MMS icon", correct? thanks.

In most cases, SMS = Text Messages...but one can never be sure what anyone else truly means by one word or another (I know some folks that consider BBM to be Text Messages...which, in a sense, it is...hence, it's always best to refer to the actual app). But, if I understand you correctly, your Text Messages (SMS and MMS) will show up only in that specific icon/app and will not display in the main Messages icon/app. If you change the settings within Messages, you can merge them back into Messages and eliminate the SMS/MMS icon.
