Will not connect to email server.

[ Edited ]

I can not get emails and set up only goes as far as "can not connect to server".  Any ideas out there?  Contacted tmobile, but they finally after 1 hour said it was hotmails fault (could not be validated), but I had email service with the same address last month. help???

This is for a 9630 os4

Re: Will not connect to email server.

Try this...

Please try this FIRST, using your BlackBerry browser...

1)
• Go to mobile.blackberry.com
• Scroll down to Communication and then to Email.
• Choose the appropriate email set up options.

If that works and completes your email setup/editing, good.

If not, follow these additional instrucitons:

2) Register HRT: (OS5) Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scoll to any line entry and > press the Menu key > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table, etc.

3) Resend Service Books: KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

4) Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

5) Now, return to the 1) mobile.blackberry.com email setup as mentioned above and follow that.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

But you also need to know that using the 9630 may require some special setup for the browser and other BIS data to work.

Re: Will not connect to email server.

Mr. JSanders,

I tried the first and it did not work.  The second idea was done by t-mobile this morning. I have os 4.  The blackberry registration came through the 2 times we did this, but it still did not work.  I was sent to Blackberry for free in January with the same problem and they solved it eventually. Don't know how though. Anything else?  I really would like to have my email on my phone. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Look forward to trying something else.

Re: Will not connect to email server.

ok, I don't know what all you've done, previously.

But if none of the above works, there's some network issue or more severe device issue.

Look at this on your device, On your Manage Connections screen, click on the Services Status.
What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service?

Did you go to mobile.blackberry.com?

Scroll down to Communicate > Email.

And click on the "other method", don't click on Hotmail
