Yellow icon: What is it and how do I delete it?

I just noticed a yellow icon to the right of the battery and volume icons near the top left of the screen.  It has a number 1 to the left of it and it looks like an call out with a small red star in the upper right.

I have a picture of it but I can't post it here.

What is it and how do I get rid of it?

Carrier is Verizon

Sure you can post it here, just upload it to your image gallery.

Regardless, do you see the icon in the chart below?

Re: Yellow icon: What is it and how do I delete it?

It is none of those, it looks like a balloon call out on an engineering drawing.

I found that it was a notification of a message that was in one of the folders, so I deleted it and it disappeared.

How do i load something to the image gallery?

Probably a yahoo messenger notification, or possible BlackBerry Messenger.

To load an image... click the little picture of the tree at the top of any of these posting screens (hit REPLY to this post and you'll see it).

Re: Yellow icon: What is it and how do I delete it?

I can't insert the image because it is asking for an image URL, and the image exists only on my laptop.

I have that icon too and can not figure out a way to delete it.  I don't have any new messages and do not use BB mess. or any other instant mess. apps.   What did you do to get rid of it?

The icon you are referring too, is the SMS notification!

Re: Yellow icon: What is it and how do I delete it?

I had the same "exact" problem. This happened during either a Yahoo messenger or a blackberry messenger chat that I closed out prematurely while the other person was still chatting with me. The only way to resolve this issue is to create a backup file using the Blackberry Desktop manager to save any important contacts and phone information..Wipe your phone clean, then reinstall the backup file. Below is a link to properly wipe out your phone, I hope this helps...It worked for me.

Re: Yellow icon: What is it and how do I delete it?

Hi,

I got a solution for this issue...

I too ws getting this icon on my notification bar bt when I ws clicking on this, nothing ws opening up...

Solution- open "messages"(not the text messages) n there u will find a notification of some application wth the same star sign(in my case it ws tarrot card reader for BB),jst click on tht and if u dnt want tht App installed then jst close it...the star sign will be gone...

Hope this will help u... :-)
