I just got mine today and I think there is a bug here somewhere. I set my sound profile to "phone calls only" and I am not getting LED when I get an incoming email.
I changed the sound profile back to "normal" and I get the LED now. (along with the vibration when I get an email and the phone is in the holster)
On my 8300 I always set sound profile to "phone calls only" to avoid the vibration when the phone is in the holster. I still got the LED though. So, it seems the "sound profile" is controlling more than sound.

Hi all and welcome to the forums!
The Blackberry's use index files to provide a quick reference so you media can be displayed promptly.
I've seen this problem before in upgrading software and transferring phones.
If you explore the media card you will find BBTHUMBS.DAT files. These are the index's.
I have had success in deleting the .DAT files, doing a battery pull and letting the phone reindex the media files.
When you wipe the phone these files may not get rebuilt correctly.
Tmurphx5 is your problem now resolved or do you need more information/
Thanks,
Bifocals

The 'wipe' didnt work, it left half of the MSN email working, i.e. I could receive emails but not send them and the aletrs didnt work. So I deleted the email account on the BB and went through set-up again to add the email account and everything now works fine. As it is back working I wont delete any DAT files but will note that in case I have further problems.
Issue closed
Thank you
