BESUserAdminClientTool configuration file usage

Hi there!

I'm creating a little application in .Net that automates the BlackBerry User Admin Tool Client.
To modify the server address I'm using the config file, and I noticed a specific part of the file:

<configuration>
   <userSettings>
    <RIM.Enterprise.BRK.BESUserAdminClient.Properties.Settings>
      <setting name="DefaultServer" serializeAs="String">
        <value>some-bb.server-test.com</value>
      </setting>
      <setting name="ClientAuthenticationString" serializeAs="String">
        <value />
      </setting>
    </RIM.Enterprise.BRK.BESUserAdminClient.Properties.Settings>
 </userSettings>

In the ClientAuthenticationString part I guess I can determine the username, the passwrod and the authentication type to use, but I didn't find any documentation how to do that.

As I used so far the default string format is -username userToUse -password pwToUse and so on,
but when I alter the file to this:

<setting name="ClientAuthenticationString" serializeAs="String">
  <value>-username adminUser -password adminUserPassword -bas_auth</value>

I get unauthorized message every time. The pw and the user is corrent, because if I type in the command manually it works fine.

Does anyone knwo anything about this?

Best regards,

Re: BESUserAdminClientTool configuration file usage

I'm not overly familiar with BUA, these questions may be better asked in the BES forums.

Out of curiosity, why use BUA over BWS?

Re: BESUserAdminClientTool configuration file usage

I'm jut getting familiar with BWS and I needed an app quckly that can delete hughe amount of users, so I decided to build it and it worked perfect so far, I just want to improve.

Do you think it would be better to change the core to BWS?

BUA wasn't necessarily designed to be used within an application, but BWS definitelty was. If you use BWS I can provide support through this forum board :smileyhappy:

Re: BESUserAdminClientTool configuration file usage

Well at the moment the app is getting info from the user(winform) then build the command, and start the BUA*.exe with the appropriate parameters, I know it isn't professional at all, but the program does what I need.

After all I decided to follow your suggestion and redesign the core using the BWS.
