@silver20, @QuiteSimple: Sorry guys, I didn't mean to offend you ppl. I was just puling your leg :-) Sorry if you felt offended. While I agree that this rating change was intended against people getting too many fake reviews, it is also true that it has hurt all the of old developers. If you do not agree think otherwise check out:
Jared released the first Flashlist and it was the top rated flashlight for over 2 years. Now Flashligt by X-Reve is 2nd top rated app.
BeWeather (The original and BEST weather app) with 531 reviews with 4.5 average rating is 29th top rated app in Weather category.
MemBoo - The memory Booster app with 539 reviews by QuiteSimple was earlier top 25 in the Phone Services. Now it is not in the top 200 rated within the Phone Services.
Signal Refresh by USA Inc is the top rated signal booster, Call Blocker by Christopher Passalacqua is the top rated call blocker, Address Book Cleaner by X-Reve, Who by SKYANT etc...
See the pattern?

As a matter of fact every long time developer worth his salt had their app in as top rated / popular in their categories. Jared, BellShare, S4BB, MMMOOO, Ajani, CrunchSMS, QuiteSimple, KVADGroup, Motek, Adorno.. all of them.
Why not scrap the top rated all together? The current top rated is filled with junk. Half of the apps do not even have global appeal. To me it looks like a quick attempt to appease this forum without giving any real thought and destroying the utility of top rated completely.
Does anyone really think that someone who can get 150k reviews for their app cannot get 100 five star reviews to make their app top rated?
On the other hand, the new popular ranking is an awesome thing. Thats a job really well done.

@adwiv no hard feelings ![]()
As @silver20 said noone really cares about TopRated. Actually search optimization is more important than the rating

I agree with the search optimization thing. Only if we could guess the more searched words, we could be much better off
You know, I actually sat down once to do that very thing: Figure out what people type in the search box more than anything else, and then write an app with that title.
Problem is, what exactly would an app called "Free Apps" do? And you couldn't charge anything for it ![]()
