The difference is that the criteria for permitted storefront apps is different from the criteria that qualifies for a Limited Edition device. For example, you can have a weblink app listed in BlackBerry World, but that wouldn't qualify to trade up for the limited edition.

Good news, I got an email from BlackBerry that the deadline for the Community Port-A-Thon will be extended to approve apps until 18th Feb.

 

So there is hope.
