Hi, i have questions... i can not use Faacebook icon to create Launcher for native BlackBerry Facebook?

I got this message today...somebody maybe report!

• Use of Facebook’s icons.

• - Any other misleading use of Facebook’s signature look and feel that could confuse users, such as splash screens with white lower case text on a blue background or blue bar.

This is only shortscut to run BlackBerry Facebook application! Not application Facebook! In app world is many other application wit facebook icon! And this is allowed.

And got answer:

Thank you for responding so quickly.  If you read our developer's guidelines you will see that you are not allowed to use the F logo in your app icon.  We have an ongoing app compliance program and although some apps may be using our trademarks improperly it is not allowed.

Here is the answer one person :

I dont know how to handle this issue. Facebook has just revised their copyright laws.

They dont want their logo to be use with any other color i guess.

I have my logos on other websites too... 

Today i have got an email from iconarchive.com

& they are too removing all facebook logos from their website.

i dont know why are they doing it for no reason.

they are emailing to everyone about "Logo Trademark Infringement"

i will update you soon as i will get more info about this issue.

This is Facebook...God...I'm so lucky to have deleted my account  Facebook.Now i'm FREE.

In App World is to many applications with logo "f".....You have to be careful.

On http://www.facebook.com/brandpermissions/logos.php explains their policy:
1) Your Facebook Page
2) Your Facebook Group
3) An application you offer via Facebook Platform
4) Your implementation of Facebook Connect

So if you are doing either doing #3 or #4, you are probably OK.

And yes, you cannot change the color or style of their brand. It is their brand to protect.

They are giving permission to use their image, but I suspect they do not have permission from Facebook to create derivative work from their brand. Facebook is very clear that there are unacceptable usages of their brand. Just because softicons has creative icons to download, does not mean it is legal for them to do so. It is possible that Facebook has not gotten to them yet to stop the practice.

I'm not saying it is "fair" to developers and all, but if you were Facebook, you would want to protect your brand and image since that has value to them. If someone tries to dilute the brand or make money off that brand, it is Facebooks right to try to protect it.

In reply i got clear answer: YES, you can do used my icon in commercial application with my icon Facebook.

Simple? Yes...simple and clear.

I asked whether or not I will have problems with Facebook. wrote that they do not.

This is stupid problem i even see.

When i buy icon for commercial ussage i dont allow to use them???

Nevermind....now i deleted my Facebook account and removed all their icon from my app and i very happy
