Some Good News and some Screwed up ones.

The good news is that I believed I have confirmed that the problem lies in the upgraded version of the App World.

I created a new Blackberry ID and it asked me to complete 3 steps, the second one being to connect my device. When I connected it the same "web client plug in error yadayada" pop up, so I unplugged the blackberry and did a complete reset. When the phone came back on the first thing I did was go to the 3 steps again and voila, no error pop up, BUT what do you think the 3rd step is? yes, to upgrade to the latest version of the app world.

The screwed up news is that you can't do anything about it, you simply can't download and install any app without upgrading the app world but when you do the  "web client plug in error yadayada" pops up, so you're screwed either way. So if you have a blackberry and your only option is to install apps from the computer, then you just won't install apps, period.

I hope one of three things, either that one of you genius finds a way to install apps without upgrading the App World, or that BlackBerry Inc. realizes that their new App World is broken, or that somebody gives me an Iphone/Android for christmas.

Good luck to you and to me with this piece of...

Re: App World Web Plugin Error: An error has occurred communicating with the BlackBerry App World Client.

The problem is definitely with the plugin.

In response to my complaint posted on Facebook, BB suggested removing and re-installing the plugin. I have three computers I can use: an IBM laptop T40 with XP Pro, a Compaq Presario with XP Home, and an IBM (Lenovo) ThinkCentre dual with Windows 7. The procedure did not work on any of them. I still get the same error. I have to use a dial-up line and just to get my BB ID entered takes 10 mins plus. By the time I get that accepted, the download page has often timed out.

Virgin Mobile is a terrible ISP. They don't provide any Wi Fi service. I live just outside of Saskatoon where Wi Fi is expensive and doesn't work properly. There are some free Wi Fi areas in Saskatoon where I can get a connection. To download applications I have to drive to one of those areas. Between the city building a new bridge and all the other construction projects, it is real pain in the backside.

Hey eMm_05 just make a downgrade from 6 back to 5. go to the site and hit the os 6 tab , try to click update like u have os 5 and u wanna update to 6 then it will show u if new updates are available for your device  . also u will see a tab down in the left corner asking u for other os's , hit it and u will see a list with some os's versions.. if u can see os5 chek the box and click update... it will downgrade ur os back to 5! good luck

Re: App World Web Plugin Error: An error has occurred communicating with the BlackBerry App World Client.

I don't know if this is entirely the same problem everyone else has been having but I found a soloution that worked for me. As well, my solution is unique so I don't know if it will work for anyone else. I was trying to get the blackberry bridge app for my wife's pearl 9100 but we don't have a data plan for her phone. So I first plugged in the peral by USB to my computer and it did that 3 step thing for registering an account with blackberry app world and telling me I needed to set up blackberry apps to the pearl. So I also made it through step 1 and 2, and when it was installing the blackberry app, I got that same communication error that brought me to this topic. So I think I am having the same type of problem. So I tried 3 times to make it install, even erasing the app using blackberry desktop. Before I created a registration on app world for her, I was using my troch 9800 login, but I got the same communication error there and the app world would not communicate with the pearl 9100 at all. While I tried to get some help from Rogers my service provider, I asked if my wifi would work and they told me that the app world app from the phone required a data plan and would not work. I tried and they were right I could not get the app or even open it up from the pearl. I just about then read over this forum topic and figured if no one had an answer then I would just give up. Then as I went to bed I got an idea. I pulled out her sim card form the pearl, and put my sim card from the torch into the pearl. Now with my Rogers plan, I have data following my sim card which is in her phone. Now the rest of this goes form memory of what I read and saw. I clicked on the BB app so that I could download the bridge app and It told me there was some networking problem and I could not access the app program. I thought this sim card switching thing may not have worked. I also know that I need wifi or a data plan for the browser to work. I tested it earlier and without a data plan the browser says it wont work. So I clicked on the browser and for some strange reason, I dont know if its Rogers or RIM that set this up. The browser is set on some weird page that asks me if I want to go to download apps from BB App world, or do I want to go get games or something else I cannot remember. So I figured, hey this data thing must work cause I have wifi off. So I did say yes I want to download an app from BB App world. It then told me I had to install the BB APP so I said yes install. It then told me I had BB APP 3.01.XX? I cannot remember the actual number, and did I want to replace it with 3.02X and I thought wait..... I just installed that BB App from the USB cable from when I was hooked to my PC and it gave me some old version of 3.01 and not this 3.02 its asking me if I want to replace? Why didn't the USB connection to the PC give me the 3.02? Anyhow, after I replaced the version I got fromt eh PC with the version direct to the peral phone from the browser on the phone... It worked. I was then able to click on the BB App on the phone and it let me go to the BB APP World and get the BB Bridge I wanted and now its all good. I have not tested if the phone will now be recognized when I plug it back into the PC. But if I had to guess. I would think that the PC version is installing an older version of the BB APP for your phone even though it thinks its linked to the latest version. When that happens, there is an error. The only thing I can think of is use WIFI to get the newest app onto your phone, and then plug into your PC with the usb cable. But that is just my personal experience. I don't know if it will work for everyone. I just know that my communication error is now solved. Later
