To open my App world it says that it requires the latest version of the BlackBerry ID, so I pressed upate but it says the 'Software update was interrupted. Please try again.' So I turned my phone off and pressed update over and over again but nothing happens. My internet connection is great, my bbm and everything else works fine.
When I pressed close instead of update, here's what came up, BlackBerry Identity installaton failed. Please try again later. (80002)

I'm also facing the same problem. it says " sorry, the software update server is unavailable, Please try again "
Retry doesnt work. Any solutions?

Have you tried taking out the battery and putting it back in?
I know it sounds like quite a simple thing, but I had the same error message until doing so. I've now managed to complete the ID update.
Hope you figure out your BB issue soon!

EXACTLY ! I had also the same error when I did the update but Battery pull restart just after that error fix my problem.I don't know if it will solve the issue for others but yes sometime Battery pull fixes as in mine.

I took the battery out a couple of times. It took a while before it updated successfully, but yeah, thanks! ![]()

here is my case - I am using Blackberry bold 9000 & i recently upgraded from OS 4.6 to OS 5. i am not a BIS/BES user but "edge" user. Blackberry app world used to work on OS 4.6 with normal GPRS & it never required a BB data plan. i am not really sure whether BB data plan is required for app world to work.

KB17659 : Minimum requirement for BlackBerry App World.
And if you are still unable to Update your BlackBerry ID you try it using Wi -Fi and try to update your BlackBerry ID ,to recover from this error follow those WORKAROUNDS within this Knowledge Base :
KB29613 : The error "BlackBerry Identity installation failed. Please try again later. (80003)" is displayed within BlackBerry App World.
