Now when I go onto AppWorld and try to enter MyWorld, there is a "please wait" message which never ends.

Did you figure it out? I am having the same issue.
It worked for a few hours on my 9900. Then all of a sudden I can't use anything, BB Protect or App World or anything.
Says unable to login, then if I tried making a new account, it says use the username associated with the account.

i am having this exact issue. I can log into my Blackberry ID on my computer and on my playbook but not on my new Bold 9900. I was able to do it last week when i first got it, now nothing.
Have you resolved your issue?

i have bought a bold 9900 and i am having the exact same problem, i have tried all the info given to try to rectify this and nothing works.......
my username and password are correct but it doesnt want to log me in.....
so frustrating and starting to wish i didnt get another blackberry now!!!
ive even uninstalled it and reinstalled it and rebooted and taken sim card out and tried everything. Nothing is working!
