I have a Curve 9360 with internet connection by wifi only.  I do not have a data plan.  Can I use App World without a data plan?  I have a registered blackberry id and am able to log in at Blackberry ID Services.  I am also able to login to the App World and complete step 1-install the software.  But, I am never able to complete step 2-Connect the Device..  My device is connected and its PIN number is recognized but I keep getting a message to restart by device.  Once I do that, I continue to get the same message.  I can't get beyond this step to the point where I can download software.

I don't know if there is a problem with my device or if the problem is that App World requires a data connection in order to work.  If it does is a wifi connection sufficient?  If not, is there a way to download apps into the Blackberry Desktop to install on the phone.  The apps I am interested in do not require internet access to function so the only issue is installing them on my phone.

Can you help me?

Hello !

There is an alternative for your problem to resolve.

What you do is connect your BlackBerry Smartphone with USB cable to Internet enabled desktop/laptop.

Go to the link mentioned below:

http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/

On top right  of the page there is a option "Sign In".

Login with your BlackBerry ID and password.

From here you can download all as you do it for Appworld.

Thank you for your reply.  However, this procedure did not work.  When I follow your link and log in as you instructed, I end up at the same App World setup page as mentioned in my original post.  When I am taken to this page, Step 1 has a green check mark showing it is completed.  When I attempt to complete Step 2, I get the following error message:

"App World Web Plugin Error

An error has occurred communicating with the BlackBerry App World Web plugin. Please restart your device and try again. If you have content protection enabled on your device, please disable and try again."

When I try again, the same thing happens and I cannot get beyond this point to complete Step 2 and Step 3.

On my older Blackberrys I used to be able to download apps to the Blackberry desktop and install them through the desktop.  It seems that is no longer posible with the newer Blackberrys, or is it?  I do have a wifi internet connection.  Why won't that work?  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

I have almost the exact same problem. I have a blackberry pearl 8100. Every time I go to install app world on my device it freezes while installing it on Step 3 of account setup. I don't have a data plan either so I can't use my browser to install it on my device. If I could download an installation package for app world to my computer and then install to my phone that would be a lot less painful and it would probably work too.
