Credit card: allowed expiration only thru 2017 in App World form?

Hi, all,

I've posted a simliar message previously in Playbook forum - no replies so far; so I am trying here, maybe it will be more successful.

.

I have been trying to set up an App World account for my PlayBook.

Unfortunately, the drop-down box allows only credit card expiration dates through year 2017.

I have a Visa card expiring in 2021 and an AMEX card expiring in 2019. Can't use them; can't use App World. What now?

Also, I've been looking for a way to contact App World support directly, but all paths lead to user forums instead. Is there any way to reach them to complain?

Thanks in advance for any hints.  R.

Additionally, your earlier message was only posted 9-10 hours ago. Most posts here do get responded to, however, This is a user-to-user community support forum. We are not RIM employees, but volunteers who enjoy assisting other users. RIM personnel rarely comment on queries posted here.

JSanders, thanks for your reply, I appreciate this !

I apologize for overposting - at first, I did not realize that there was an AppWorld forum separate from Playbook. I wanted to reach the correct audience.

I hope you don't mind I do not close this post - maybe someone will have a direct solution. In the meantime I'll pursue the link you provided.

Thanks again. Robert.

No, keep the discussion here, since it's begun now.

You can always use a PayPal account.

Re: Credit card: allowed expiration only thru 2017 in App World form?

[ Edited ]

Thanks.

I am trying to avoid using PayPal and such, because it is an open-ended system - meaning, if I screw up (always possible), I can mistakenly clean my bank account or run up high credit charges. I want to use limited cards (prepaid), which typically have long expirations.

So, as I see it now, the problem is that the AppWorld form (likely written a long while ago) is not updated to allow contemporary limits on expiration dates. It's just poor/lazy maintenance - other services, like Amazon or even the Music Store on PlayBook allow selections up to mid-2020's.

I did not get a chance yet, but I'll follow up on the link you kindly sent me, to have someone at BlackBerry force the adjustment of entry form. I am also thinking about contacting AMEX and Visa, to let them know that BlackBerry, as a credit card merchant, is not accepting their cards - contrary to statements by the card companies.

I'll keep you posted.  Thanks. Robert.
