Re: My smartphone is associated with an unknown ID !

Hi,

I deleted my Blackberry ID because I couldn't recover my password. Unfortunately my phone is still associated with the old ID. I created a new Blackberry ID with the same eMail address (ID Username), but different screen name as I couldn't change it to my old screen name.

When the phone verifies now the ID, then the error message "Enter the username associated with this smartphone" appears.

Is there any chance to restore my old Blackberry ID, or to assign the new ID without deleting all the data / settings on the phone?

Any help is welcome

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Unfortunately, with so many different recommendations in this thread, I cannot determine, from your words, exactly what you actually tried...I cannot tell what "it" is...

Please be explicit about exactly the steps you attempt and exactly where in those steps this message presents.

Thanks and let us know!

Re: My smartphone is associated with an unknown ID !

I deleted my Blackberry ID because I couldn't recover my password. Unfortunately my phone is still associated with the old ID.
i go the application management option, then look for Blackberry Identity and delete it !
Therefore, launch App world and it will ask for download a missing something.
but it says "sorry, the software update server is unavailable. please try again"
how do i solve this problem??

OK...first to clear up a misconception from your post.

You did not delete your actual BB ID. Rather, you deleted the Identity app on your BB, which is of course required to perform various functions. While I have seen this method (deleting the Identity app) discussed for attempting to change the BB ID associated with a BB, the officially recommended method remains to perform a device WIPE.

As to your situation, please try the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Please also see the workaround and remedy recommendations in this KB:

  • KB29613 The error "BlackBerry Identity installation failed. Please try again later. (80003)" is displayed within BlackBerry App World

I understand you do not have that specific error message, but the steps may nevertheless be helpful to your situation.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

Good luck!
