Re: forgot app password and secret question

I had the same problem and then managed to delete and create a new ID with the same email address. However, my phone keeps telling me to use the ID associated with this device, even though it has been deleted.

Please help?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Given that error message, you must wipe your BB and then re-associate it to your BBID.

Good luck!

Re: forgot app password and secret question

Thank you for your reply. I just want to make sure - how exactly does one proceed to restore the phone to its factory settings?

Re: forgot app password and secret question

Well, that's a completely different process...so we'll go one at a time here...

To wipe your BB and be able to then associate it anew to a BBID, read post 58 above, the 2nd half, item 1...that linked KB discusses the exact process to follow. In your case, you are not actually trying to change your associated BBID, so you will use the exact same credentials that you have recently recreated.

As for what different WIPE activities there are, refer:

  • KB16307 Actions performed by the BlackBerry smartphone during the removal of stored user and application data

Only one of those is what is required as per the link in post 58 above. Nevertheless, to perform the Factory Reset you asked about, you would follow this:

  • KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software

Good luck!
