"cannot connect to the BlackBerry app world server."

Hello,

 

I am attempting to install software on my blackberry storm from the app world, and I am receiving the following error message:

 

"cannot connect to the BlackBerry app world server. Make sure that your device is connected to the wireless network and try again"

 

I am using a BlackBerry Storm 9530 on Verizon

v5.0.0.328

blackberry app world 1.1.0.24

 

I have reinstalled app world, cleared the app world cache, verified that I have a data connection (i can browse the internet and send/receive email) and that I am using the correct paypal login information and I've done full battery pulls. I was able to purchase an application, but now I cannot download and install it. Please let me know how I can correct this.

Try this, it has worked for others, IF you have a GSM SIM card in the device, remove it and try to connect again.

Run a diagnostic report on device:

 

Manage Connections > Mobile Network options > Menu key  > Diagnostic Test.

 

After completion,

Radio Data Activation?

BlackBerry Registration?

Connected to BlackBerry?

OK, all that looks good.

 

Have you tried this again today -- to download the application? I wonder if it was just a server issue at one time?

I have tried again today and I am getting the same error. I think it is something with connecting to my paypal account correctly because I was able to download and install a free app without an error. I tried to purchase another app and that produced an error as well. Is there anything that might be preventing appworld from connecting to my paypal account? It was able to successfully charge the account at one point because I see the charge for the app that I cannot download.

Yea it could be something with PayPal.

 

I am about to be busy for a while.  Why don't you look in the KNowledge Base section here for anything connected to PayPal.

While JS is offline...a few thoughts...

 

1) Your PayPal account must have a current and valid credit card attached. If that recently expired, that could explain the difficulty.

 

2) You earlier said you bought an app but could not DL it. What, exactly, did you do to get to that point?

 

3) And what, exactly, does your MyWorld display for that app at this point?

 

4) And what, exactly, happens when you click on that app in MyWorld (assuming it's listed in some state)?

 

 


 

You might try clearing the application cache:

1. Open App World

2. Go to My World

3a. For keyboard-based BB's -- Hold down the ALT key and then press, in sequence R, then S, then T

3b. For Storm/Pearl -- Hold the num-lock (!?123) button so it locks and then press, in sequence 3, then 4, then (

4a. If your BB locks after issuing the cache clear, perform a battery pull reboot
