30 day email sync limit is huge draw back my business; is there a fix?

My Previous BB phones gave me option to sync email older than 30 days. Also noted phone log is same limit when backed up form my own phone. As both features are vital to my operation, is there a way to work around this?

Explain what your email server is... are you on Exchange?

Re: 30 day email sync limit is huge draw back my business; is there a fix?

I have a pop 3 server, and my emails are stored there. (Server years worth). The restriction comes in the "set up account" on the BB itself. Instead of "forever" as a last option, (as in the past) it is only allows "30 days".

(Thank you for the quick response)

Re: 30 day email sync limit is huge draw back my business; is there a fix?

This is because the new Z10 utilizes Active Sync technology rather than the former BIS setup.

In essence, this is means the email on your device "reflects" what is exactly on your email server, rather than formerly "pushing" all new email to your BlackBerry.

Re: 30 day email sync limit is huge draw back my business; is there a fix?

Just wondering though, "my setting up accounts" for email only allows me to download the previous 30 days, and not "infinite".

I do have 2 years worth of important Emails on my server. How do I download the previous 23 months to my BB?

My server does provide push, and it is lighting fast, my BB gets befor my computer.

Overall experience is very good so far.

Just this one hicup.

Re: 30 day email sync limit is huge draw back my business; is there a fix?

I don't think you understand what I'm saying... you are not downloading emails. Your Z10 is "syncing" what it sees on your email server from the past 30 days.

So, what you're experiencing isn't a glitch, it's working as a designed.

Re: 30 day email sync limit is huge draw back my business; is there a fix?

Dear Resident Expert

Im a new user of Z10 and have to agree with the previous users complaint  that the  30 day constraint is a massive drawback:: It doesnt matter to me if its a hi tech sync or its push technology....I  need my historical emails on my device: Unless Blackberry rectify this (Im not doubting the prowess of sync tech )  I will return the Z10:  sitting on my server are 2 years of email and there should be no functional rerason why I cant download them:

Is blackberry aware that whilst the technology of sync might be a massively smart application, a user cannot download historical data

Please explain if it is still possible to downlaod the historical email ............on iphone (its competitor) you can download infinity!

I regard this as a major functional problem

sincerely

Dear colinlaw, I agree with them as well, I'd like more than 30 days sync of email.

Since I'm not a developer for nor employed by BlackBerry, I can't tell you the "why". Don't know.

Rumor is that more than 30days of sync will be coming soon. I don't know about two years worth.

Re: 30 day email sync limit is huge draw back my business; is there a fix?

Dear Resident Expert

Thanks for your comment! I found 10s of users with same complaint in the cackberry community: Im so fed up with blackberry......I cannot believe how stupid they are- obsessed with fab sync IT, theyve neglected the business functionality: They should have a program (similar to a Kalman filter) that

1.) you can down load bucket loads of email which will sit in a secondary folder (say on your microSD

2.) Initially on teh download they sSync say 90 days and download as much history as you want-

3 You yourself have articluated that push technology allows you to download as much email as you want:

Im going short Blackberry and have already made plans to return it and switch to another phone

take care
