I've recently purchased a Z10 as the 8900 I had broke. And I mean it doesn't come on at all, completely dead kind of broken.
The problem I'm having is that I cannot recover any of my contacts off the 8900. Even though I've set up the BB protect part on the Z10, all that came across was the BBM contacts, and nothing else.
How do I access the past BB protect backups done on the 8900?
Please advise as I have 1 contact I urgently require.

You can do a one-time restore of the Protect data from your 8900. Go to Settings > BlackBerry Protect. At the very bottom of the screen is Restore button that will allow a restore from the Legacy device backup. Tp that, and you'll see a list of devices. After you select one, I believe you'll be offered the available backups by date.
Note that this will overwrite data (new contacts added, etc.) on your Z10.
Also note that, if you store you contacts and calendar on your device (instead of syncing via Gmail, Outlook.com, etc.), you will have to backup your device using BlackBerry Link. BlackBerry Protect in BB10 does not backup data.
Hope this helps.
