BLACKBERRY Z10 SWITCHES OFF RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN

I was earlier using BB Bold 9900 which had lately a problem of switching OFF on its own, and finally ended up abondoning the device as it never could be turned ON again, inspite of changing new battery or connecting it on charger. Now I am using the BB Z10 which is more annoying than the earlier one as the device Turns OFF randomly and suddenly when  you least expect it to turn OFF. If I have to show the problem at the Service Center I cannot, because I dont know when it will switch OFF. I have kept the device running with the latest updated OS10 software. Can anybody help?

Switches off, or randomly reboots?

Re: BLACKBERRY Z10 SWITCHES OFF RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN

I haven't experienced that. Mine randomly reboots.

You are not accidentally pressing the top edge button while inserting the device in your holster, are you?

Re: BLACKBERRY Z10 SWITCHES OFF RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN

No, not at all. Even if I have placed the device on a table, and after a while I pickup to see that it has turned OFF. By the way I am not using a holster. I have also experience sometimes a sudden tapping on the phone (like using the phone and lightly tapping it on your other hand) also causes it to turn OFF. I thought it was a battery loose contact problem. But no its not. As I said it will turn OFF even if its just placed somewhere without disturbance.

I'd suggest you contact STC then, if that is where you purchased it.

Re: BLACKBERRY Z10 SWITCHES OFF RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN

I had this happen for me just yesterday on my Z10. Since it happened, I can't download anything from the app store, several apps don't start and their icons don't show, and the Blackberry ID page in Settings is completely blank. I suspect something got corrupted, probably the BB ID info.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? I'm new to the BB world.

Re: BLACKBERRY Z10 SWITCHES OFF RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN

I spoke too soon. The extra reboot only fixed the downloading problem and the BBID problem. The app problem persisted. Deleting and re-installing the apps worked for all apps except the LinkedIn app. I'm guessing it's because the LinkedIn app was the only app that came pre-installed on the phone. I'm unable to delete the LinkedIn app and BB World says it's already installed and doesn't give me the option to install. I probably have to reload the phone. **bleep**. I'll poke around the forums and see if someone else has a solution.
