BOX App for BlackBerry Z10 LOST my videos/pics!!!

I have never used the Box app before and when it came pre-loaded on my BlackBerry Z10 I thought I would put it to the test as I just came back from Europe and had a lot of videos and pictures that were taking up space on my memory card and internal storage.

I went online and read about Box.com and what it is primarily used for. Noticed that before they were unable to transfer video files but nowadays you are definitely able to do so or as they are advertising anyway. I know the app should have been top notch by now. I signed up for an account and "moved" all of my files to Box while I was logged in.

Unfortunately, only some of my pictures were loaded onto Box.com account but every video and most of the other pictures were not. Not only were they NOT uploaded to the cloud storage they were apparently DELETED as I am unable to find them anywhere. Tried restarting, removing SIM and SD card to put into another phone, contacting Box directly but it did not work. The Box team told me to contact BlackBerr, and in their words from the email i received "Our app is actually made by BlackBerry  and we've heard a few reports of this issue so we're going to work with them to see if we can ge these awful bugs sorted out...Please also contact BlackBerry support team."

I am here looking for help on how I could possibly get my files back.

Please if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it?!?!?

Thank you.

Re: BOX App for BlackBerry Z10 LOST my videos/pics!!!

It's unlikely the Box app would have removed your files especially if it didn't confirm that the copy had been successful, so you may want to look for another explanation of how your files were deleted. Also large files could easily have failed to upload over a slow network link. Also I believe Box unlike some other cloud service providers has a file size limit.

If your original files were on the SD card then placing that SD card in a PC and running a PC app that scans and recovers files should recover at least some of them, unless you have used it a lot afterwards or reformatted.  There is no way to recover from the phone's memory that I'm currently aware of.

FYI... expecting an answer within 2 minutes on a forum site where answers come from volunteers is non-sensical.

Could you copy here the EXACT contents of the email you received from Box?

Re: BOX App for BlackBerry Z10 LOST my videos/pics!!!

I checked our file servers and I couldn't find any records for these files. Our app is actually made by Blackberry and we've heard a few reports of this issue so we're going to work with them to see if we can get these awful bugs sorted out. Please also contact the Blackberry support team, perhaps they know a way to recover files from a temporary directory, cached location etc. I hope that helps clarify things, please let me know if I can look into anything else for you.

Re: BOX App for BlackBerry Z10 LOST my videos/pics!!!

OK.

Do this if you want to try to unerase your deleted files from the card.

Remove the Media Card from your BlackBerry and leave it alone.

Get an Card adaptor to read this media card inserted into your PC.

Download the free PC app named Zero Assumption Recovery (ZAR).

Insert the card into your PC.

Run ZAR, following its instructions to try to recover those files.
