Frequent spontaneous restart Z10

I started to notice that my Z10 randomly restarts while I'm carying it in my pocket at least a couple of times a week. Since I have to enter my pin code to activate the phone again I'm not reachable as long as I have not noticed the restart which is pretty annoying of course.

At first I thought it was the battery not making good contact, but I can move battery around with my hand and the phone keeps working. So I thought it was a software bug.

Now I found out that I am able to easily reproduce the restart by applying a gentle force to the phone as if twist the phone with two hands (like wringing a wet towl). I don't even have to twist hard.

Has anybody experienced the same issue? What did you do about it?

I've lost the receipt so I doubt that I can take it back to the shop.

Re: Frequent spontaneous restart Z10

Fold a small piece of paper and wedge it along the top edge of the battery (the top, opposite the end with the contacts). See the image below where the red arrows are.

Try that a few days and see if the restarting persists.

Re: Frequent spontaneous restart Z10

dear Jsanders

i am facing same problem on my Z10 STL 100-3; i tried to follow your instruction. but there is no effect!

in fact my phone restarting two or three times per day. it just shows reaction when is moved!

i remember my previous phone ( Nokia Lumia 520 ) with several falling down from table or my hand on the ground and working without any problem.

there is a hardware issue certainly, but i don't know what can be and haw can be solved.

do you have any idea in this regard?

thanks.

You've placed a piece of paper wedged as described above, and no help?

Perhaps it's Android apps you've loaded? I don't know. You'd need to give more detail on what's installed.. .and your OS released installed.

Re: Frequent spontaneous restart Z10

i placed a folded paper beside battery edge; which is suppose to make better battery connection i think.

regrading model and OS released, it is BB Z10 STL 100-3; and 10.2.1.2977.

i have some android application, that don't exist for blackberry directly; such as Tango, Skype, Wechat and etc.

is it important which application is running? because sometimes it resets when i don't use.

Re: Frequent spontaneous restart Z10

Some android apps run in the background regardless of if it's running.

I've downloaded Advanced Task Killer Free, from the Amazon app store and it will detect and allow you to close any android apps which are running without your knowledge.

Re: Frequent spontaneous restart Z10

I have notice my BlackBerry Z-10 is restarting frequently, if i tried to security wipe it, but before i do security wipe it restart again. Even during the restarting process the phone is becoming Hot and even worse and again restarts.
I thought battery was not making proper contact, so i put a piece of paper, but its nothing related to battery, the is just switching off and restarting in a Loop.

Im using Vodafone Service in my phone which is 10 months old phone.
KIndly suggest me a solution
