Hot phone

Hi all, thanks for all of you that provide support, it is appreciated.

My Z10 had not suffered from the heating problem until this week, I did the 10.1. Update last weekend and still no heat issues but then yesterday, it got very hot and the battery just drained away so quickly that it must have been working really hard.

Last night I did the latest Update (for me in the UK on T Mobile that is) and it seems to have the same problem - did anyone find a satisfactory solution to this problem?

Re: Hot phone

The heat is from high processor use. The heavy processor use is likely from heavy syncing of data from the upgrade, and or from joining a BBM group or friends joining a BBM you're in (BBM syncs from user to user).

Do this, a simple restart on the device (press and hold the top edge button for a couple of seconds > Restart at bottom of the screen.

See if the battery discharge and heat gets better.

Re: Hot phone

my device is often warm when under heavy use, like JSanders has stated, when doing a sync or even group update it will happen.

I would go as far as to download a device monitoring app and see if there is a CPU spike or RAM spike when this occurs

Re: Hot phone

Thanks for the explanation and suggestion, does anyone use a particular app for monitoring which they could recommend?

Re: Hot phone

I'm using Battery Guru. it's the best app for this purpose and the developer is an active member of these forums and a nice guy.

There are other free apps which don't have the same tracking ability.
