Lost BB Curve

I have lost my BB Curve and use the new BB Z10 now. How can I recover the back-up file from my old BB curve to use all data with the new BB Z10?

Re: Lost BB Curve

Hello SaseKa and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for your question on transferring data from an old BlackBerry smartphone to your new BlackBerry Z10.

Did you download BlackBerry Link yet? If not, click here to get the download file for either Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac operating systems.

Once you have installed BlackBerry Link, connect your BlackBerry Z10. You will be guided through steps to set up your device. You should have an option to restore data from a backup file.

If you don't have this option, click on the settings (cogwheel icon) on the top right and the device. On the left hand side there is a Restore Device Data tab. Locate your backup file from your Curve to restore it to your Z10.

Hope this helps!

Re: Lost BB Curve

OK, so far I could locate the file but I am not able to mark it to open. The file ends with .bbb

Re: Lost BB Curve

The file can't be opened natively on the computer.

To access the contacts, the file needs to be restored to a BlackBerry device. You can use BlackBerry Link to transfer this data to your Z10.

Are you unable to select the file to restore it in Link?

Re: Lost BB Curve

Is the backup file greyed out?

Do you get an error when you go click on the file?

What's your Link version?

Re: Lost BB Curve

When you click on restore, do you see the Legacy Device Backup files?

If you search your computer for a .ipd or .bbb file do you have more than one file you can use for restoration?

Re: Lost BB Curve

I am not quite sure what you mean with "Legacy", but there is more than one bbb file and also some older ipd file when i search my computer. But only the bbb files are seen in the Blackberry Backups folder and show up since I go to the rstore button. However all of them ar greyed out.
