MMS recipient privacy

I have been using and enjoying Z10 for a few days.  I am now getting feedback from friends that when they receive MMS messages from me, they can see the phone numbers of the other recipients of that message.  I have not been able to find a way to correct this through setup or settings.

Seems like a serious privacy problem.  Am I missing something?

Re: MMS recipient privacy

Hey castex,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for the question.

To investigate this issue further we will need to gather logs from the BlackBerry Z10.  Please contact your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, Ferret.

I contacted T-Mobile today and was transferred to BlackBerry (after speaking with a T-Mobile Blackberry specialist).  I was told that this is part of the design of the Z10/BB10 software.  Apparently it's considered handy for business applications?  The only solution offered was to not send messages to multiple recipients if I am concerned about privacy.

If it's advantageous somehow in business applications, I'll accept that, albeit without understanding it.  But could there not be an option to not show all recipients information on the other recipients; as with the bcc option when emailing?  It seems to me it would be better to move towards having more methods of protecting privacy.

The person I spoke with was very pleasant and wanted to help.

Re: MMS recipient privacy

When you initially send the mms group message out you have the option to check "Enable group Message". If this isn't check you can send mms but no one will see the other names and reply back will only go to you like "bcc".

Thank you for replying.  I've tried several times but I can't find  the option/check box you mention.  Could you walk me through it?

Thank you for your help,

cas

Re: MMS recipient privacy

Let me know if you get that option or not? If not I will double check my mms settings and we can compare.

Re: MMS recipient privacy

Oops sorry everything did not copy.

You will need to start a new MMS Thread for the option "Enable group Message" to become available for you to check by choosing at least two contacts.

If it doesn't work let me know and we can compare mms settings.

Re: MMS recipient privacy

Either it's not there, or I am missing it..  Tried a couple more times sending mms message to three recipients.

Re: MMS recipient privacy

A BlackBerry rep is now involved.  He had me send a couple of texts with him included on recipient list so he could see that other recipients phone numbers would be visible.  He's checking on the situration and said I could expect to hear back from him later this week.  When I do, I'll post the information here.  Thanks.
