Aha! The solution at last.
And, in keeping with my basic life lesson, "Nothing is foolproof given a sufficiently talented fool."
I turned my Z10 off and back on (reboot) and everything now works like a charm.
Haven't rebooted in a week.
And that was all it took.

Its simple really.
Connect Z10 via USB to PC/MAC.
BB Link will start automatically. Close it.
Go the BB settings > Storage and Access > Select 'Media Card Details' and keep USB Mass Storage 'ON'
This helped solve my problem and hope it will solve your's as well.

Plug your Blackberry Z10 into your computer with the USB lead, and turn on USB mass storage (found in Settings/Storage and Access). Then your Z10 will show in your computer as an external drive - you'll be able to access your photos from there. It works, it's easy and I'm doing the same thing right now

My phone is a Blackberry Q5.
To access my phone as a USB storage device, i go to STORAGE AND ACCESS
and on the bottom i turn on USB MASS STORAGE.
When I connect my phone to my laptop through USB cable, it recognizes it as a USB Storage device just like a USB Flash drive.
