Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

As I already stated, the update is due out in the first week of June. This comes from an excellent source from within BlackBerry. I spoke with 2 Sr. Tech specialists yesterday and they confirmed. The iTunes sync issue may take some time longer.

Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

I can't believe that now we have a good idea of (if not firm) date, people are still having a go at BlackBerry! Two way sync via hard wire is imminent. BlackBerry have listened to us and done something about it. Well done to them - this the kind of support I want to see from any company, and it bodes well for the future of this iconic phone manufacturer.

Some people will never be happy, but I think the majority of those 80 million users who want to see a two-way Outlook Sync will be extremely pleased - both at the news it's imminent, and when it arrives.

Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

For God's sake - who wants "iTunes" synch??!!! What most of us BlackBerry regulars want is the same, reliable, secure, USB two way synch with Outlook which was one of the key features of all BlackBerry devices since they were first introduced.

If I wanted a toy then I would have bought an iPhone years ago. For me BlackBerry devices are a key working tool.

For the people at BlackBerry to have imagined that their loyal customer base were looking for OTA solutions as a reason for buying into the new OS10 shows to me that the new senior management at Blackberry have entirely misread their market.

Not a very comforting thought!

Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

Just because you don't, PJC, doesn't mean that others won't. While many of the existing BB users consider their devices as office tools, I think it would be misguided of the new management to simply ignore the vast(er?) market out there who may be swayed by a phone that rivals the current crop of smartphones that have impressive 'social' capabilities.

Contrary to your view, I think it's rather encouraging that BB has the foresight to cater for both markets.

Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

Fair enough - but not catering for their traditional users as a priority seems a bit short sighted. That's all that I am saying.

It's a great pity - because everything else about each of the Z10 and Q10, both of which I have bought, is excellent.

Which on has the edge for you -Z10 or Q10?

Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

Some more news from my source, I removed the start of the sentence;

"...who works on the desktop team and the 2 way sync feature is done and is in beta testing.  It should be released in the near future."

This should have been a priority from the start but I am SO happy to hear progress with something so important to everyone I know with a BBerry! When I told my colleagues about the lack of 2 way usb sync to Outlook they looked at me with disbelief then frustration. What the ... was the reaction every time.

I too would like to know who prefers the Z or Q and why? I have the Q and feel that a keyboard without a mouse pad was a waste. Maybe should have gone with all touch if I can't have the essential mouse, return, telephone and end keys. The key board is the best ever!!! Very nice.

Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

The screen quality on the Z10 is outstanding. The browsing speed of both is excellent. But, sadly, I cannot get to grips with the touchscreen keyboard of the Z10, although I have to say the predictive function is outstanding and way better than anything else that I have seen elsewhere.

The Q10 falls down on its Amoled screen which means that it is virtually unusable in sunlight. Also because of the way that the screen functions are set up when using the e-mail function, the net, usable screen size is very small. They keyboard is excellent.

Bottom line - make the Q10 slightly longer and give it the same screen as the Z10 - then I would be a very happy bunny.

But both are excellent devices - with the sole problem for me of the Amoled screen on the Q10. Not being able to use it in direct sunlight is a big negative.

Sorry folks - I know that this is of topic. I am just trying to be helpful in answering a question.

Re: New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

The lack of mouse is a a pity but the touch screen pointing feature works very well once you have got used to it and understood the need to move the circle around to get to the precise point on the screen which you need.

I was initially upset by the lack of the telephone key. But I find that the ability to type into the keyboard directly "call joe doh" which immediately brings up "Joe Doh"s contact details with the option to call whichever number is appropriate is a perfect;y acceptable compromise.
