Hello twstd_reality and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
What is your current volume setting for your notifications? If you don't have music playing is the tone loud or quiet?
If you turn your notifications to silent, when listening to music you won't be notified of an incoming message. If you leave your notifications on to play a sound, the music should fade out then back in again to alert you to the message.
To clarify, you leave your notifications to always play a sound but aren't getting any sort of notification for an incoming message?
Thanks!

Hi hmthepirate and thanks! To answer your questions:
- current volume is around 75% and yes notifications are nice and loud when no music is playing.
- the phone is never on silent. Ive actually set all notifications to sound with vibrate and led. The music does fade in and out, but no notification is heard, or its barely audible. Are you saying the fade in / fade out of music is the notification?
- yes and no. It's intermittent. My Sound is always set to normal. Sometimes i hear the notification fine and i see the led on. Sometimes i dont hear anything except the music fading but i see the led on. Sometimes i hear the notification but the led doesnt come on. Sometimes, i only hear the fade and nothing else. All this while im listening to music. No music playing with headphones and everything works as it should.

If you were to remove the ear phones and listen to the music through your speaker, does the notification tone sound? Does the LED illuminate?
The music should briefly fade in/out to alert you to the notification but it will not pause.
If you were to play a video, does the same thing happen?

Thanks, but is there another way besides contacting my carrier?
