Z10 Power

Unfortunately, my Z10, which is now a month old will not turn off.  I recently travelled to the UK and it stopped working (the power button).  It is extremely important given the amount of time I spend on airplanes.  In an attempt to remedy, I have pulled the battery and sim card for 5-10 minutes.  Reinstalled and the phone boots without problem.  I verified that all software updates are current.  Any suggestions?  I am afraid that the switch at the top of the phone is bad.  I looked for another way to turn off the phone (via settings icon, etc.) and have not found another way.  Please advise urgently whether I need to return the phone.

if I were you I would simply make a backup, and go to ATT for a phone exchange.
