Re: Z10 encoding issue in outgoing email

Did you try the approach of post 42? Because it works for me (with Rogers).

Re: Z10 encoding issue in outgoing email

Just tried it and it seems to be working so far - have tested it on a couple of devices that were getting the encoded junk. So far, so good. An odd workaround, but I will happily take it. Will update in a couple of days after some heavier use. Thanks! Still would like to see a fix from BB though.

Re: Z10 encoding issue in outgoing email

This is post 42:

To recap (for the non-techie use Z10 user):

1. make sure Wifi setting is off;

2. go to Settings, then Accounts, then the offending e-mail account, and open settings for that account

3. go to the the 4th section of the page that starts with SMTP Username, and:

a) ensure that "SMTP Username" is blank;
b) ensure that "Update SMTP Password" is blank
c) at "SMTP Server Address," erase what is there and insert that of your service provider (for example, for Rogers, it would be smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com -- check with your own service provider to get it if you don't know)
d) at "SMTP Port," erase what is there and insert 25
e) at "SMTP Encryption,"  ensure that it shows "off";

4. save all of this, and voila!

Re: Z10 encoding issue in outgoing email

That's too bad. This fix isn't a perfect solution for me either - I use the Z10 a lot at home and office, usually on wifi to keep data use down. Hopefully Blackberry will deal with this in an update soon.

And I hope a provider puts a tower up closer to Halls Harbour than to Kentville!
