Re: android apps

there seems to be increased news media and chatter about Android apps being supported on BB10, not just side loading but being available on BB World.

After this past B10 release there are llimited Android apps in BB World, but it's not much and not useful apps.  Does anyone know if more and real Android apps are coming to BB World?  Is this a Blackberry strategy?

Re: android apps

No one here, in this user-to-user community, can know or say what BB's future strategy is...their public statements must stand on their own, and we never get anything additional here (at least nothing authoritative...there is always plenty of speculation!!).

But, the latest version of BB10 indeed can directly install APK's...no need for a converter, no need for a side-loader, etc. Obtain the APK onto your BB, then launch it from the file manager, and it will install. 100% compatibility is, of course, not guaranteed. The SNAP app (a BB10 BAR that must be side-loaded) is an excellent on-device source for APKs.

BB isn't, as far as I can tell, "talking up" this capability...not sure why...it may be that they want APKs to come to BBWorld before they talk too loudly about this capability. But, in the meantime, there is SNAP (and others...I just happen to like SNAP the best).

Good luck!
