Re: battery gone crazy after 10.1.0.273 update

How are you measuring this battery health?

Did you already know this 28% battery health and just didn't want to tell us?

Re: battery gone crazy after 10.1.0.273 update

I downloaded an app called "battery" You can find it for free at http//appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/23952885.
I didn't know before downloading this app, why would I hide any information?

I don't know why you wouldn't mention that up front.

Re: battery gone crazy after 10.1.0.273 update

I started my own thread about very poor battery life after updating my Z10 to 10.1 as well. All I got was some of the same expert responses and links to tips on saving battery life. The fact of the matter is that before the update with the same settings and usuage the battery was lasting twice as long and the unit was not getting hot to the touch.

I tweeted abouth the issue to @blackberryhelp (as they recommend on their website) on May 16th but have not yet received a reply.

Three to five hours of battery life with normal usage is not acceptable, this needs to be fixed like they did after the Z10 first came out.

Furthermore while travelling (roaming) last week and with light usage I was lucky to get 2 - 3 hours before the phone shut itself off completely even though the battery still showed appx 20% left. I couldn't get it back on unless I charged it first.

Blackberry needs to address this, carrying one or two extra batteries to get through a day of use is not the answer.

Re: battery gone crazy after 10.1.0.273 update

If you have a 23xx OS and battery version back-flash the battery to the 2006 rev (T-Mobile officially released this) and the problem should go away.  That's non-destructive as well (see Crackberry for instructions if required.)

23xx radio code sucks battery like crazy.  I suspect something in that rev is not allowing the phone to go fully to sleep when idle.  Complain to your carrier as they should have caught this and NOT released it!

"back-flash the battery to 2006 rev"

Say what, Willis?

Do you mean downgrade the OS to 10.1.0.2006?

Or provide details on the process you're recommending, or at least a link?
