My Shaw is still giving me some issues with the outgoing, but I am sure I can figure that out with them. My main concern is my work email.
The tool gave me the exact settings I am using and it said it was verified...weird huh?
All data is fine on the network and Wifi.

Actually, I stand corrected. I thought the tool said validated, but it said validate. I didn't click it originally.
There were 2 POPs with the same settings. One was SSL on and one was off. Both failed as undefined, but I don't understand that givent that it worked fine with the Curve, laptops, etc. It also works fine with Androids and iPhones.

I decided to run the Shaw as well. The POP validated and the SMTP validated, but it won't even let me put in the SMTP settings that did validate; saying it could not be contacted.

First thing -- as you have access to other Internet connected apps, the network doesn't appear to be the problem.
I've taken a look at Shaw's support site. Apparently they now support (and recommend) email via ActiveSync (listed there as Microsoft Exchange email). Unless you particularly want POP email, Id suggest trying the ActiveSync setup.
Go to Accounts > Add Account > Advanced > Microsoft ActiveSync.
Description: The name of this email account. (Example: Shaw email)
Display Name: Your name (as it should be shown when you send an email)
Username: Your @shaw.ca email address without the @shaw.ca
Email Address: Your @shaw.ca email address
Password: Your Shaw.ca email password
Server Address: wm.shaw.ca
(Port should fill in automatically as 443)
Use SSL: On
Push: On or off, depending on your preference. (I prefer push.)
Then set your sync TimeFrame as desired. If you choose "forever", you may wish to be on a WiFi connection unless you have a generous data plan.
Once the account is confirmed, go to "Edit Folder Settings and choose what folders you wish to have synced to your device. (I select all.)
The ActiveSync method will give you the option to sync calendar and contacts as well. Your email on device will now essentially mirror your email server. Deleting on one deletes on the other; read/unread status is synced, etc.

I can't explain it, and neither can Telus, but with the original settings I had in there, it all of a sudden worked today. Either the phone has/had a glitch, or Telus did not remove the BIS properly (thought they deny that possibility lol), but on the way to work, it just all of a sudden started kicking in, and seems to be holding.
