and... make sure your device is asleep in the holster.

 

If it is awake, and simple touching the screen enables search etc, then it is not asleep and you're consuming battery etc.., and grabbing it by the sides and facing it towards you is all good advice... but it doesn't resolve the real issue you have.

 

Does that make sense?

The phone is in sleepmode while inside the leather pocket.

Does not work either. The phone wakes up the time after it left the pouch completely.
Btw. I am right hand orientated. I allways do it this way.

Obviously if it wasn't have been there then why would the screen wake up as it comes out of the pouch

As i slip the phone into the pouch, half the way the screen go blank. The other way around the phone (screen) wake up after it left the pouch completely.

If i lay the pouch/leather pocket ON the phone, the screen go blank. If i remove the pouch/leather pocket, the phone wake up.

in settings, device password you can enable device lock when in holster

So are you touching the screen as you remove it from the holster?

 

I use the same holster, same device. It awakens when removing from the holster, but I never have the issue you're experiencing.
