notification light up screen

On my other phones, when I got a new text or other notification (like an alert or calendar reminder etc.) the screen would light up automatically when that notification was posted.  With this blackberry, it makes the notification sound, the light blinks at the top of the phone, but then you have to press the button on the phone or do something to otherwise view the text or whatever notification it is.

I looked everywhere but can't find where you can put this in as a setting.  Can anyone help?

Re: notification light up screen

Correct, or swipe from the bottom bezel of the screen.

You might find what you need to light the screen in a third party app such as BeBuzz or ColorID.

Re: notification light up screen

That's really too bad. it makes you have to take more steps than other phones that allow you to simply glance at your phone when it notifies you of an event.  Oh well.... thanks for your response!

And in doing so, it would use up more battery when maybe you're busy and you don't want to immediately view the message. You might not even be in the same room as your phone when the screen lights up. With BlackBerry phones, you're alerted to a new message with as little as a blinking light (which, incidentally, most other phones don't offer as an option despite them having a LED light available). If you then desire to view the message, you do so. If you don't desire to view it right then, the blinking light will go away after five minutes.

Between the two options, I opt for BlackBerry's.  Smiley Happy

Re: notification light up screen

Hello. I'm also a new user and my Z30 is presenting the same problem. It seems to me that the calendar's notifications can't bypass the locked screeen mode nor the locked device mode. This should certanly be classified as a bug and consequently should be fixed in the next OS release.

I'd also like to report another situation: In the contacts app when you add a person's birthday date it should be created also in the calendar with the corresponding yearly notification. Currently, this does not happen, so.. what's the point of adding that date to the person's data?

This aside I'm very satisfied with the device and certainly hope to master its many features.

Thanks for the support.
