Adding a new Account/Provider to the system?

I'm working on a social app and would love to add a new service provider. is that possible?

Basically this social service has Messages that I want to appear in the hub, Contacts that I want to show up in its own list in the Contacts app. I noticed the following classes but didn't see a way  coerce them into adding a new type of "Provider" to the system. Is there some possible way to hook into this? Or is that the exclusive domain of RIM, only adding services at a time of their choosing?
